March 30, 2005 in Patipa club boys band Greenjolly presented new lyrics and video of the Ukrainian revolutionary hit "Together We Are Many"
Svitlana Bazhanova, Head of Ukrainian Delegation at Eurovision 2005, said that the controversial situation around the song "Together We Are Many" was solved. A week ago at its meeting, Eurovision Reference Group examined the new lyrics and had no remarks regarding that. According to Svitlana, already this day the song video and music will be sent to 11 European countries, the media of which have shown their interest.
The video was shot by Kryla studio, headed by Olena Hantsiak-Kaskiv. The director of the video was the Russian Andriy Novosiolov, and the German Ian Hoffman was a cameramen. The new version of the song itself was published by Ukrainian Records recording company. The events shown in the video were shot in Podil, historical district of Kyiv, not far from the Kontraktova square. In the course of the video people walking along the streets unmask themselves and tear off black veils covering buildings. In the final episode all these negative artifacts are burnt down and the fire turns into fireworks.
Greenjolly band was created by Roman Kostyuk (vocals) and Roman Kalyn in 1997 in Ivano-Frankivsk. In 2005 Andriy Pisetskyi, the keyboard player and saxophonist, a friend of Romans for a long time, joined the band. The word "Greenjolly" in the Hutsul dialect means a "wooden sledge". In the near future, the band plans to release the album.
The song "Together We Are Many" was written during the first rallies in Ivano-Frankivsk in autumn 2004, the source for the lyrics are the revolutionary slogans of the Ukrainian Orange activists. The video, which was presented, is the second one for the band. The basis of the first video (directed by Vitaliy Kokoshko from "Kinograph" company) is the newsreel shootings of the Ukrainian television channels during the times of the Orange Revolution.
