Beginning in 1997, Nemiroff has supported the yearly rally-raid, which is conducted by the Dnipropetrovsky club of offroadsters, Land Club 4x4. Today, starting in 2000, this off-road rally-raid is named "Nemiroff Trophy".
Every year from 20 to 40 crews not only from Ukraine, but from Russia and Belarus as well take part in the Nemiroff Trophy. According to tradition, sportsmen-professionals (Sport class) and amateurs (Raid class) compete with specially equipped vehicles that satisfy all safety requirements.
According to international classification, the Nemiroff Trophy rally is in the Baja category, which can be translated from Spanish as "Overcome!". A rally-raid is a competition designed for medium-range speed that takes place over impassable roads and roads for regular use. The course length is not longer than 5,000 kmfor a period of not more than four days.
The routes and legends for all stages of the race should be developed anew each year and usually become known to the participants only at the start. Organizers carefully prepare the route for three months. Those who have been to the Nemiroff Trophy at least once need no explanations about what is dirt, sand dunes, deep fords and many other things. At times one is simply surprised how the drivers manage to hold onto the wheel and maintain their ground on the road.
The Kyiv crew composed of Bohdan Sykhetsky and Olexandr Ptashnik had won in 2004 in the fifth anniversary offroaders rally-raid Nemiroff Trophy. The 2004 Nemiroff Trophy demonstrated that the raid's amateurs and professionals have been growing in number in Ukraine. And this rally-raid, which itself gave rise to the championship of Ukraine in rally-raids, has the potential to turn a new stage in its development - to the level of a full-fledged international competition.
